Riversdale Farm Guest House – home of the Thomas Family – is a large, well built and spacious country residence standing in a beautiful situation and surrounded by our 80 acre farm.
All rooms have splendid views and are furnished for a comfortable and relaxing stay. All of our ten bedrooms are en-suite, the house is centrally heated throughout, and both the lounge and sitting rooms have open fires. |
Cooking is done by our Ballymaloe-trained family, and we have a
wine license.
The House overlooks the new Shannon-Erne Waterway which borders
our farm for over half a mile, and is beside Aghoo lock.
The
south side of the Courtyard, opposite the swimming pool, has been
refurbished to form three self contained family suites which enjoy
all the facilities of the guesthouse.
Recreation – In the courtyard is the farm
and in some of the stone built outbuildings we operate a small leisure
complex. This comprises of an indoor heated swimming pool, sauna, squash
court and fitness suite.
What to do : Riversdale is just 1.5 miles from the little town
of Ballinamore, which has a complete range of shops and services,
together with a lively pub nightlife.

For the golfer – Ballinamore has a well
kept, well drained 9 hole course in a scenic setting where visitors
are made very welcome. Within easy distance is the championship
course at the Slieve Russell Hotel in Ballyconnell, Courses at Cavan,
Lonford, Rosses Point and Carrick on Shannon are all within easy
reach for a days golfing.
Horse Riding – Within half an hour two riding
centers offer horse riding, instruction, trekking, and indoor facilities.
Five minutes away is Drumcoura City Western Riding center with ‘dude’
ranch and saloon.
On the Water – Riversdale is the base for
Riversdale Barge Holidays, a Barge hire company. A waterbus (fully
approved for wheelchairs) operates from Ballinamore with a regular
choice of trips.
All of this is set in a wide variety of scenery, lakes, and lovely
walks. There is a local Hill Walking Club on the
Slieve An Iarainn mountain.
Touring
– Riversdale is a good center for touring, since Galway, Westport,
Sligo, Clonmacnoise, the Boyne Valley, and Ulster American Folk
Park, and even the Giants Causeway are all easily visited in a day.
For tired drivers, there are many short tours exploring the beauty
of our own County, which includes the two great rivers Shannon and
Erne, lowlands, lakes and roads through mountain scenery where you
will meet few people.
Place to visit – include a visit to the
restored Parkes Castle and Lough Gill, and on past Glencar waterfall
to Sligo Stroke House and Famine Museum, Marble Arch Caves and Enniskillen’s
museums and shopping, the restored Cavan and Leitrim Light Railway
at Dromod, the restored Castle and the Hill Walking center at Manorhamilton,
and the Forest Parks at Lough Key and Killykeen. On the shores of
nearby Garadice Lake is an animal farm – ideal visit for the
children
